When it comes to the energy transition, New Mexico stands ready to lead the nation.
The future of energy will include a combination of energy forms, many of which we can produce. Our state is a hub for solar, wind, natural gas, and oil production. Combine this with our ongoing focus on hydrogen and clean water, and our state is poised to be the energy leader for the new energy frontier.
Hispanic-owned businesses have a unique role to play in this energy expansion, which is why we strongly support New Mexico taking the lead. This is also the reason that the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce (Hispano Chamber) continues to host a national energy summit in Santa Fe each spring. Our next summit is scheduled for May 21- 23, 2025.
As the energy landscape evolves to meet rising demand, we must not forget the importance of reducing our carbon footprint. Advancing new energy production forms along with low-carbon solutions like hydrogen and carbon capture and storage (CCS) has become essential.
As the president and CEO of the Hispano Chamber, our vision is to improve lives through commerce, community and culture, and to promote economic development for both Albuquerque’s Hispanic community and New Mexico broadly.
Hydrogen and CCS satisfies this vision through its dual environmental and economic benefits that will help New Mexico reduce its emissions, while scaling up production and growing our economy.”
